Announcing Dates for PressNomics 4

pn4

Are you ready for PN4? The business conference for the WordPress ecosystem is coming back with our 4th installment.

Dates – March 3-4, 2016

Location – Tempe Mission Palms Hotel, PHX

Tickets go on sale – September 1st, 2015 at 10AM PST

A note from Sally

I’ve been told by numerous people that we should increase the cost of tickets for this event and that they go to other conferences that cost more and return less value. Thank you for looking out for us and I truly value your opinion, however we have decided to keep costs essentially the same as last year because it’s not about the money; It’s about giving back. We look forward to growing our businesses together.

Sponsor Love

It’s a testament to the value this conference brings when within minutes of sending out the the sponsorship details folks step up to help make it happen. Please welcome;

Tune in for more details and speaker announcements in the coming weeks.

Siteground optimized Cloud platform

This is a sponsored post by SiteGround, one of our great event sponsors.

We are glad to welcome SiteGround as a sponsor again this year! The big news they decided to announce at Pressnomics 2015 is the launch of their new WordPress optimized Cloud platform. As part of this launch all Pressnomics attendees will be able to claim 1 month free cloud service at the SiteGround booth.

The new platform sounds really intriguing. It is built on one of the hottest technologies recently – the Linux containers and its main advantages are:

1. Really Fast websites

The outstanding website performance is achieved by using SSD hardware together with several in-house developed WordPress specific caching solutions based on Varnish and Memcached.

2. Easily scalable resources

Linux Containers are highly elastic and additional resources like CPU, RAM and space can be added instantly without reboot. SiteGround even provides an autoscale option to safe-guard against problems due to spikes in your site traffic.

3. Flexible and affordable pricing

New SiteGround Clouds give you great freedom when it comes to customizing the resources of your Cloud. You can customize your plan’s RAM, CPU and space upon sign-up and easily upscale as you grow. The basic plan starts at $50/month.

Just what it sounds like. So much of PressNomics is about the conversation’s between attendees. After the first 2 events we learned that getting people back into the room for speakers on friday afternoon is hard. More importantly we learned that people want to network and mingle A LOT. So this year the last 1.5 hours or so will just be for attendees to network and talk while the sun is still out.

Share a room? Got an extra ticket?

We are counting down to the holidays, and then of course PressNomics 3 is upon us.

We’ve seen some chatter on twitter about folks looking for a ticket, and a few folks looking to off load a ticket. A few are also looking to split a room at Tempe Mission Palms. Use the comments below to post if you are buying/selling a ticket and if you have or are seeking a roommate at the hotel.

Thank you to our top sponsors: Microsoft Azure, Envato, Pagely, and Mojo

PressNomics Social Saturday: Golf and Guitars

One of the things that makes PressNomics such a great event (according to our past attendees) is the structured social event’s on Saturday. This is power networking for attendees.

This year we will be holding our 3rd annual Golf Tournament. For those desiring a less ‘sporting’ event we will be taking folks by bus to a one of a kind museum here in Phoenix. The Musical Instrument Museum, or MIM, is rated the #1 attraction in Phoenix by tripadvisor, and top 25 nationally. It is also a personal favorite of Sally and I. Any other music buffs out there?

The Saturday activities are NOT included in your ticket price this year and a separate ticket must be purchased for $50 if you wish to golf or travel to the MIM.  Remember proceeds from PressNomics benefit St Judes Children’s Research Hospital, so that is why we are mindful of budgeting for these activities.

Remember to book your travel 😉

WordPress Mergers and Acquistions

So raise your hand if you have NOT been approached by GoDaddy, Endurance, or Automattic to buy or acqui-hire your WordPress company. <Only 2 hands go up>

mergers-and-acquisitions-209

WordPress is hot, everyone wants in. The market is consolidating at the theme, plugin, and agency levels with recent deals involving names you recognize. WDS picks up Maintainn after Maintainn picked up WPSell, Velomedia is on a tear scooping up Pixel Jar, CrowdFavorite, and then Forty.  Lift picked up ChurchThemes, Pagely took over BlogDroid, Syed and Thomas go full voltron on optinmoster and other projects, and I know I am forgetting at least 20 others.

So Shane Pearlman stopped me at #wcsf and pitched me this idea for a panel at Pn3. Who am I to deny Shane? Friday will feature an hour long conversation on WP M&A hosted by Shane Pearlman, with guests Jake Goldman, Dre Armeda, Karim Marucchi, and Syed Balkhi.
